About the Project

This job portal development project has a unique approach. Unlike conventional recruitment websites or online job portal apps, Taraki’s primary focus is on candidates. It caters to both blue-collar and white-collar workers seeking employment opportunities in Pakistan.

The candidate search engine serves two main objectives. Firstly, it aims to automate the recruitment process, reducing the time employers spend searching for suitable candidates. Secondly, it aims to reduce costs by eliminating the need to engage third-party staffing agencies. The web portal effectively accomplishes both objectives.

Upon registration on Taraki, candidates can effortlessly create their profiles, preparing them for the job market. Taraki efficiently collects and organizes candidate data into a searchable database, offering personalized job recommendations for an enhanced job-seeking experience. 

Employers can then search this database to find ideal candidates based on their specific criteria. Following initial contact, both users are free to engage in discussions, interviews, or meetings outside of the platform.

Taraki’s employer portal allows employers to specify skills, communicate via integrated Whatsapp, and use advanced filters for precise candidate selection. Candidates are ranked based on relevance, and the dashboard enables employers to manage profiles and update company details. The whole system is supported by an admin portal that enables Taraki administrators to monitor key user statistics. This includes data on the number of registered users, their application statuses, and other vital KPIs.

About Client

Taraki offers an automated, candidate-centric recruitment solution to both job seekers and HR professionals in Pakistan. Established in 2022 by Salman Chattha and Hassaan Khan, the platform initially focused on blue-collar employment opportunities and has since broadened its scope to include white-collar positions, thereby attracting a more extensive audience of skilled workers and recruiters.

Distinguished by its innovative product, Taraki strives to reduce job search and recruitment timelines and expenses by more than 35 percent. Beyond conventional job listings, Taraki is driven by a mission to create a dynamic ecosystem where opportunities seamlessly align with potential.

Problem

The Taraki Team initially launched their Minimum Viable Product (MVP) on Bubble, a no-code development platform. While it served its purpose for the initial months, as more customizations were envisioned, the Taraki team recognized the need for a more dynamic and scalable solution. This demand for improvements encompassed several key areas including:

One of the primary challenges of the project was the necessity to transition to a coded solution without compromising any user data and with virtually zero downtime. The project’s inception was marked by the need for further refinement and enhancement of the product idea before embarking on the development journey. Recognizing these requirements, Taraki entrusted us with the project, allowing us to guide it in the desired direction.

Solution

Throughout numerous meetings and interactions with the client, our team embarked on a journey to gain profound insights into Taraki’s vision for this transformative project. 

Our team engaged in extensive brainstorming sessions, leveraging their expertise to conceive innovative yet practical solutions. Aligned with the client’s objectives, our team developed actionable remedies for the multifaceted challenges including data cleaning, data validation, and migration from Bubble database to a custom code, alongside matching fast-paced iterations of Bubble itself.

The outcome of our collaborative efforts was the creation of an online platform that catered to employers and candidates and empowered Taraki administrators. This comprehensive online job portal development solution was designed with three distinct modules, each catering to a specific category of users.

The Mobile Application provided a user-friendly platform for all registered industry workers to construct their profiles, positioning them effectively in the job market. Employers can themselves post jobs and view applicant details on their dedicated portal. 

Additionally, the mobile app incorporates a preliminary quiz for each applicant, serving as an initial screening process. This feature ensures that employers receive applications from candidates who have already passed an initial qualification stage. The Admin Portal granted Taraki administrators the ability to oversee and manage all recruitment activities occurring within their platform.

Embracing industry best practices, all three portals were crafted to offer seamless accessibility and navigation. The intuitive interface ensured that users of varying skill levels could interact with the system effortlessly.

At its core, the automation of the recruitment process sought to achieve a remarkable reduction in hiring times and costs. Furthermore, the scalability of the online portal was a pivotal consideration, strategically aligned with Taraki’s vision for expansion into additional cities.

What we Delivered

There are four key aspects of the job portal development project that we delivered to our client.

Advanced Search Algorithm

We have revamped the recruitment portal into an easy-to-use search engine with smart filters. This upgrade has significantly improved the search process, helping employers find the best-matched candidates effortlessly. The system now uses advanced algorithms with weighted filters, ensuring top-notch candidates appear at the forefront of search results.

Mobile App Redefined

Our seamless Android app offers candidates an easy and secure registration process, verifying their profiles via SMS. Candidates can add their work history to the profile and even upload a Resume to showcase the extent of their abilities; skills, expertise, and past projects. The addition of a dynamic quiz feature further enhances precision in matching candidates to suitable roles as all candidates go through an initial level of screening hence, giving candidates more control over their job search.

Web Portal Enhancement

Employers who register on Taraki are provided with a feature-rich portal that simplifies the job posting process. They can specify required skills, use integrated WhatsApp connectivity to communicate with candidates and utilize Taraki’s advanced search functionality to filter candidate profiles based on their selection criteria. The system offers a wide range of filters, some mandatory and others optional, allowing employers to fine-tune their searches. 

Candidates are ranked based on their proximity to the employer’s search criteria, ensuring a precise match. Additionally, the dashboard allows employers to manage their profiles and update their company information, including contact details.

Efficient Admin Panel

Taraki’s internal operations witnessed significant improvements through the implementation of an advanced admin panel. Our team designed a robust architecture that streamlined the management of workers, employers, active job listings, and premium accounts.

Our Process

Our job portal development journey with Taraki followed a full-cycle process, commencing with the discovery phase and culminating in a successful launch.

The initial three months were dedicated to in-depth requirements analysis and intensive design discussions. We diligently examined our client’s specifications and thoroughly reviewed the existing MVP. Extensive brainstorming sessions were conducted to identify and refine viable solutions for the challenges at hand.

Our team worked closely with Taraki’s product team and acted as an in-house engineering unit for constant technical support. With a clear understanding of the requirements, we proceeded to the development phase, which spanned approximately six months. 

This phase encompassed rigorous testing cycles, ensuring the platform’s robustness and reliability. Following an exhaustive user acceptance testing phase, the web and mobile application was officially launched in August 2023.

The live candidate search engine is a testament to our dedication and expertise. Our commitment extends beyond the launch, as we continue to provide ongoing support and maintenance services, ensuring a seamless experience for our client and their users.

The Team

Our team consists of six key individuals. This included a software architect, one UI/UX designer, three software engineers, and a quality assurance engineer. Leading the team was our project manager, who ensured everything ran smoothly. Together, they collaborated to bring the project to life.

Technologies

For this project, the front end was developed using Angular with Typescript and TailwindCSS. Nest.js was used for back-end development with PostgreSQL for the database. The deployment was done on AWS which not only ensured scalability but also minimized the challenging downtime during the migration of data from the previous database

Muzammil and his team at Consolices have been great. We teamed up with them when we were still extremely early in the journey of building Taraki and there was still uncertainty in the direction our product would take. Despite this challenge, the team showed exceptional understanding and professionalism. We were especially impressed by their commitment – we met our timelines regularly, we were kept updated on progress or unforeseen challenges, and when extra effort was needed they were there to get the job done!
